Firefighters in Washington rescued a worker who got his arm trapped in a baler machine, which is used to compress materials like cardboard or plastic into bales.

The Everett Fire Department said firefighters responded for a technical rescue at the Goodwill Outlet on West Casino Road in Everett, north of Seattle, shortly before 6:10 p.m. Tuesday. A worker at the outlet got his arm trapped in the gears of the industrial baler machine.

A photo shared by the fire department shows rescuers using a variety of tools while working to free the man from the machine.

The fire department said it took rescuers about 30 minutes to extricate the man from the machine, with EMS personnel providing medical care during the process.

Once freed, the man was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in serious condition with multiple injuries to his lower arm.
