Two Florida men are facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly driving ATVs onto another person’s property and fatally shooting two hunting dogs last week.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said the victim reported a “disturbing series of events” that took place on Thursday, March 27. Bobby Pike and James Wilson allegedly first approached the victim’s property on Rollo Drive in Bryceville “aggressively,” by yelling and banging on the door.

When no one responded, Pike and Wilson allegedly drove ATVs through the victims yard before firing shots at a dog kennel. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two hunting dogs deceased, and three shotgun shells, two fired and one unfired.

“Our community expects better, and we will ensure those responsible are held fully accountable for this cruel act,” Sheriff Bill Leeper said in a statement.

Pike and Wilson were each arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty. The sheriff’s office said Wilson is a convicted felon who was illegally in possession of a firearm, and additional charges are pending.
