A Florida man is facing charges for allegedly killing a kitten by hurling it at the ground, and drunkenly declaring his intention to kill more cats, authorities said.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of animal abuse at 483 Figueroa Avenue in Fort Myers shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. Several witnesses at the scene told deputies the suspect was drinking alcohol and violently threw a kitten to the ground, killing it.

The suspect, 24-year-old Alfonso Alexander Perez Nas, allegedly “held the kitten to the sky and said he was going to put on some music and kill more cats,” the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives and the Animal Cruelty Task Force obtained a search warrant and exhumed the kitten from where it had been buried in the backyard.

A video clip shared by the sheriff’s office shows Perez Nas standing over a hole with a shovel, smiling and waving the dead kitten around in the air. Another clip shows deputies later digging in the spot to retrieve the kitten’s remains.

Perez Nas was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail on a charge of aggravated animal cruelty.

“I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Animal cruelty will never be tolerated in Lee County,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. “This disgusting act landed Perez Nas in the Lee County Jail. We will always protect those that cannot protect themselves.”
