A Florida sheriff’s deputy recently captured a hawk that found itself trapped within an elderly woman’s screened pool enclosure.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said an elderly Tampa resident called 911 on Sept. 28 seeking help removing a large hawk the screened pool enclosure at her home.
Body-worn camera video shared by the sheriff’s office shows a deputy arriving on scene armed with a large net, a snare pole and a thick glove. The deputy carefully approaches the bird of prey, which puffs up its chest and spreads its wings as it’s backed into a corner.

With calming tones, the deputy traps the hawk in the net. After asking the resident where the nearest woods are, the deputy goes across the street to release the hawk.
The hawk does not immediately leave, instead spreading its wings and posing for a quick photo before flying away.
