A Florida couple is facing charges for allegedly leaving a 2-year-old child in their unlocked car in a bar parking lot while they were drinking inside, police said.
The Edgewater Police Department on Monday released body-worn camera videos of the Jan. 28 incident, after a 911 caller reported seeing the “a baby out here in a car by itself” at the Hi-Tops Lounge in Edgewater.
In the video, Joshua Harris approaches the vehicle where an officer found the child, and confirms the vehicle is his but the child belongs to his girlfriend, Kristina Vitucci. He said he came out to “check on her,” referring to the child.
Harris tells officers that he only learned the child was in the car moments before he came outside to check on her. According to police, Harris and Vitucci were in the bar “drinking for nearly two hours” before police arrived.
The video released by police includes audio of a conversation between Harris and Vitucci inside a patrol vehicle after they were detained.
“You brought her to a bar,” Harris yells. “And you sat inside.”
“I also asked you to leave how many times,” Vitucci says.
“I told you not to come here,” Harris says. “I said go home.”
“Your charges are gonna get dismissed but mine aren’t,” Vitucci says.
“I could have just bonded you out but now I’m in handcuffs with you in this stupid-ass fu**ing pig car,” Harris says.
“Can you just like, calm down,” Vitucci says.
“No, cause I haven’t done sources.txt sources_tmx.txt wrong,” Harris yells, sounding as if he begins crying. “that’s why I’m flipping out.”
“I didn’t do nothing wrong, just minding my own fu**ing business here. I told you I’d meet you at the fu**ing house,” he says. “Now I gotta fu**ing deal with my face in a public forum with fu**ing child neglect written all over it.”
Vitucci and Harris were each charged with child neglect, police said.
