U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than $10 million worth of liquid methamphetamine from a vehicle at the southern border and arrested the driver, a Mexican citizen.

CBP Office of Field Operations officers at the Eagle Pass International Bridge in Texas on Easter Sunday encountered a 46-year-old Mexican woman driving a 2000 Dodge pickup truck attempting to enter the United States and referred the vehicle for secondary inspection.

After an examination that included the use of a non-intrusive inspection system, officers found nearly 1,149 pounds of alleged liquid methamphetamine in an external fuel tank. According to CBP, the drugs have a street value of $10,562,320.

“Our frontline CBP officers maintained strict vigilance, utilized high tech tools and took down a significant amount of liquid methamphetamine,” Port Director Pete Beattie, Eagle Pass Port of Entry, said in a statement. “Seizures like these illustrate perfectly CBPs ongoing commitment to upholding CBPs border security mission and protecting our communities.”

CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the driver and launched a criminal investigation.
