The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said 43-year-old Kenneth Bratton was arrested at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on charges of attempted murder.

Deputies were serving an eviction notice at a home on the 600 block of West Mulberry Avenue in Porterville at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when they discovered Bratton, one of the tenants at the home, had a warrant out for his arrest. When deputies attempted to arrest Bratton on the warrant, “a struggle broke out.”

During the struggle, Bratton allegedly “pulled out a gun and fired.” No one was injured, but Bratton managed to flee the scene. Deputies later tracked him to the 9000 block of Road 256 in Terra Bella, where he was arrested.

The sheriff’s office did not disclose the nature of the original warrant for Bratton’s arrest. He will face attempted murder charges in connection with Thursday’s incident.
