Newsman Scott Pelley’s stunning on-air rebuke of CBS’ corporate overlords during a recent 60 Minutes broadcast has plunged the lauded program into chaos and disrepute, according to stunned sources.

Insiders proclaim that the TV journalist’s decision to air the show’s dirty laundry and blast Paramount Global — CBS’ parent company — for allegedly meddling in news production has endangered the vaunted program’s credibility and inflicted an injury on the 57-year-old brand from which it might never recover.

“It’s chaos behind the scenes; 60 Minutes was one of the last sacred brands left on TV — and now it’s bleeding credibility faster than we can patch it up,” a longtime CBS staffer confides to The National Enquirer.

“People here are scared. If 60 Minutes can be compromised, then nothing is safe.”

At the end of the show’s April 27 edition, 67-year-old Pelley’s closing remarks accused Paramount of having begun “to supervise our content in new ways,” which sources say landed like a bomb in the 60 Minutes newsroom.

Pelley explained that executive producer Bill Owens — who’d helmed the show for 24 years — had quit days earlier because he “felt he had lost the independence that honest journalism requires.”

Pelley, who is in his 21st season with the newsmagazine, also claimed that Owens’ announcement came as Paramount pursues a blockbuster merger with Skydance Media that requires the Trump administration’s approval.

Sources say it makes sense that Paramount would want to play nice with President Donald Trump and not rock the boat with the sort of provocative exposés that have traditionally been the stock-in-trade of 60 Minutes.
