2 Arrested After ‘Trafficking Amount’ Of Drugs, Loaded Firearms Found In Reach Of Children

Two men are facing charges after authorities in Florida found a “trafficking amount” of narcotics and firearms in a home with children present.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a disturbance and gunshot at a residence on El Campo Avenue in Deltona on Sunday. They arrived to find narcotics in “plain view” and unsecured, loaded firearms “in reach of young children.”

After executing a search warrant at the residence, deputies recovered 29 pounds of cannabis, 592 grams of cocaine, MDMA, 31 Suboxone, which is used to treat opioid dependence, and paraphernalia including bags and scales.

Deputies also recovered a .223 Ghost firearm, a 9mm Springfield pistol, a 9mm FN pistol, and a .40 Smith & Wesson pistol.

David Lopez, 27, was arrested on charges of armed trafficking in cocaine, armed trafficking in cannabis, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of Schedule II with intent to sell, possession of MDMA, own/rent a structure for trafficking, and possession of paraphernalia.

Victor Noel Cruz, 38, was arrested on charges of resisting without violence and violation of probation.
